You never know what would have happened had they gotten into another school. There really is no point trying to convince yourself that it would have been a better or a worse fit, because your kid never lived that experience. It is not a good use of time to focus on the school they didn’t get into. Help your kid get excited about the one they did, because almost all schools have something to be excited about.

Fairfield seems to be on the rise. My daughter is interested.

My dad went to Fairfield U when it was all-male. He also went to Fairfield Prep on full aid. He loved Fairfield, and lifelong friends.

Schools see through it they know how to pick.

this is very true in my DC's case. In hindsight, the top pick wouldn't have been a good fit for DC. MIT/CMU. Ended up at UMD and is loving it. They said to me yesterday that they are having their best life. They've had great internships, making really good money, great group of friends, very active social life.

Not this year, but friend's kid was rejected by his dream school Stanford and ended up at Dartmouth College. Loved Dartmouth. Was an athlete in a non-revenue sport. Very social & engaged in several activities beyond academics. (Also was accepted to several other Ivy League schools. Stanford was his only rejection.)
