I don't keep receipts so what do I need to prove I purchased X product especially years ago.

I’ve never gotten a substantial amount from these. I got one from Naked juice (which I drank daily between 2009 and 2012) because apparently it wasn’t actually healthy. I think I got $40. Currently waiting on my own employer who got sued for sharing information with Facebook, and the 23 and me settlement.

There seems to be more lately. Usually it’s small amounts but it’s free money and takes seconds to do so why not.

So I recently received a payment of $882 for an ATM surcharge settlement that I filed years ago. I definitely did not expect such a high number! I've become more serious about class actions and will file more/track more cases.

How? Why? When you are part of a consumer class you are literally 1 of hundreds of thousands of names on a list and you and your $20 in exchange for the company being able to settle for comfortable damages.

Many people don’t even cash their checks. The lawyers make the real money and they aren’t worried about it coming back to haunt them.

The company doesn’t care it’s just money, and even collectively it’s a drop in the bucket for most.

There is usually a lot of money to be distributed in these actions for the consumer, the firms need to distribute the money, it’s basically free money with very little effort or proof of damages required. I always apply.

The best for me was the epi pen class action check. This was real money.

I realized that a lot of my notices were going to spam so now I check that. I do sign up for them after I have done a check on Reddit first to make sure it is legit. I recently got money from Hello Fresh (like 80 dollars) and 23 and me (60ish dollars). Also got a big amount of money from a car issue (400). Other stuff throughout the years - a credit card company (maybe 25) and things I can't now remember.
