I always order my own birthday cake. I love cake and I want to get exactly what I want.

BTW, the Wegmans whipped cream icing is amazing. And their fillings are to die for.

DH ordered his own 50th bday cake. I did everything else for his party. Don't let anyone make you feel bad.

Who cares? YOLO! If you want cake...buy a cake. Too many people lose their lunch if people don't get what they want. This way you're in the driver's seat.

Just consider that if you’re the type of person who always must pick out their own cake and own gifts, you may be sending a message to those around you that what they do isn’t good enough.

It is absolutely sad. But she shouldn’t have pointed that out to you.

Different strokes for different folks.

While I’ve never ordered my own cake (because my husband does), I know lots of people who throw themselves lavish birthday parties where they host their friends (including someone who hosted a weeklong party at a resort abroad).

Absolutely nothing wrong with ordering your own cake.

For future reference, the chocolate cake at Wegmans is amazing.

The fact that you don’t have anybody who cares enough to get you a cake is sad. No doubt about it.

You don’t buy yourself unnecessary things you like?

That’s not the same as a birthday gift from a significant other/ family member. I’m not concerned about receiving a “good gift”. It’s the thought that counts. I can buy myself what I want any day I want. My daughter buying me a silly bracelet that made her think of me brings me joy.

Heck, I bake my own cake OP.

DH will take care of dinner.

I occasionally will order my own. If I want something specific, I should do it myself. It’s not unusual for me to want something specific.
