I'm so confused if OP wants UW or WUSTL. They sound similar. WUSTL should just rename themselves St. Louis U or something. Most people assume that U Wash is UW (U Dub).

UW Seattle is not test blind, it’s TO “do no harm”. Acceptance rates vary extremely widely especially out of state. CS is near impossible direct admit or otherwise.

Sorry, I misunderstood the original query. I was responding for Wash U of.St. Louis, not U Wash. (Major was chemistry)

My kid was interested in washu (st louis) last cycle. Our school counselor told us ED really helps at washu and for RD its is hard but demonstrated interest helps. Applying to a (less popular) humanities might be a good strategy if coursework, ec and interests align. Likely lots of premed, business kids so try to differentiate. I remember olin undergrad bschool admission guy said they expect highest rigor math/high test scores so the liberal arts college may be easier? Friends we know there are happy, very smart, friendly and didnt have crazy level ec. (My kid was accepted ed elsewhere so didn't apply).

DC applied as a Statistics major but subsequently transferred to engineering. The transfer process is very easy.

UWash? University of Washington is UDub and Washington University is WashU.

UW Seattle is competitive for OOS, especially Foster School of Business or Engineering. (CS/CEng is direct admit is 2%.)
