P.S. Not sure, but you may want to get a blanket or an article of clothing of the owner to place in the dog's bed. Might make the new addition to your family feel safe & comfortable.

If the dog becomes anxious, he/she may mark territory with urine. Research whether an item with the owner's scent might help to direct your new addition where to mark his.her territory.

+1 to transferring the chip, if there is one.
There is a possibility the memory care unit allows dogs to visit, so you could consider visiting the dogs owner (but only if you want to and have the time! do not feel obligated!) or letting her children take the dog to visit if they want to.
