This is a Reddit post from 4 months ago, but disturbing. The Mayor should explain how DC doesn’t have school busses so kids commute on their own on the metro.

Thankfully we don’t have many. But this is still a real problem for the boys. When the National Guard first showed up they pulled this nonsense and we had to have parents volunteer at the metro to escort the students in. Ridiculous


But WHY? Just because some kids get rowdy? Whose authority is cited?


Very specifically, some people got assaulted at the food court by some kids this past week.

I get on metro at Union Station and there were numerous police and NG inside the station and on the platform when I got there right around 5 today. I didn’t see any kids around, which is rather unusual.

NP. This happened to a group of Stuart Hobson kids last week too, FYI.


The SH kids were trying to pick up pre-ordered drinks at Starbucks en route home and weren't allowed to.

They are blocking access into the Union Station building. So kids can still take the outdoor escalator up and down to the metro itself. It’s completely arbitrary and I hope it ends soon.


Oh ok - that’s better. But my kid likes to go browse in the record store in the station. Oh well.

They are blocking access into the Union Station building. So kids can still take the outdoor escalator up and down to the metro itself. It’s completely arbitrary and I hope it ends soon.
