Testimony from a digital forensics expert, Heather Barnhart. I can’t find an official source though with her actual testimony. I thought it was widely assumed the reason he took the guilty plea instead of going through trial is so that his mother wouldn’t have to take the stand and reveal what was said on the calls.

I think either he confessed to them and they spent the calls coming up with a plan to help him get away with it, or he was just acting weird and needy and they didn’t know why until hours / days later when the news emerged, at which point they basically knew he did it but decided to keep their mouths shut.

Alibi since the timeline on the crime wouldn't be 100% precise.

I don’t get how the family was shocked when the siblings suspected him that Christmas and secretly searched his car after noticing he was wearing latex gloves around the house. I don’t read the article but that clearly tells us they were suspicious. I think they even brought it up with the parents.

There was clearly rampant mental illness in that family.

Just look at her: she’s another blue-haired weirdo. Not surprising her brother turned out to be a serial killer.

Yeah. I get why she is trying to put a positive spin. She can't get a job. Her brother has probably put the family through hell their entire lives but it was at least a private matter. Now they are pariahs even though they probably had no idea he was capable of something that bad. So it wasn't a good idea to do this interview but what is she supposed to do? She is a person with a life too. I gusss she needs to change her name and hope for the best.

No, reports from multiple sources indicate that he was definitely not normal. Which doesn’t preclude him being nice to his sister, and being given a standard upbringing.

She should have just stayed silent. She doesn’t even realize some of what she is saying isn’t favorable. And the picture of her with blue hair and heavy eye makeup isn’t winning anyone over either.

She says her parents used to wake them up to eat take out food on the deck. She presents it as a happy family bonding activity. It’s just strange. Who randomly gets take our food late at night and wakes up their kids? Didn't they eat dinner? Did they get sent to bed super early? Were the parents smoking pot and got the munchies?

She says he was never violent and to prove it recounts one day she was shoving him outside the house to leave and all he did was hold her hands. Umm. I have never shoved anyone out of a house or anywhere else. Why didn’t the reporter ask why she wanted him to leave.

He was diagnosed with autism in 2025, conveniently since his lawyer tried to use that to avoid the death penalty. She brings up this diagnosis but doesn’t mention it was a recent diagnosis that anyone who has a BA in psychology and getting a PH.D in criminology would know how to answer questions to get someone to diagnosis them. Maybe a better explanation of his difficulty with social interaction is because he is a sociopath who is just a downright evil person.

The mother sets a reminder of the victims birthday in her phone. It’s creepy and she shouldn’t have mentioned it. The victim’s parents don’t need to ever hear that. They don’t need to hear he picked out a birthday cake and his sister blew out the candle for him.

It’s awful all the way through. They have more information they could be giving the victims’ families but now are hiding behind-we don’t know anything, we were just a normal family and don’t talk about the crime so let’s focus on he was a heroin addict, he was a chubby kid, he (allegedly) has autism.
