My kid is at the Newhouse school at Syracuse and you really cannot beat the production experience they provide. Not only is there state of the art equipment for the students to use, but they also train on older equipment knowing that in media, many new grads end up in small media markets that use outdated cameras.

+1. Penn State and volunteer for THON for hands-on experience. It is the largest student-run philanthropy and raises north of $15M each year for childhood cancer.
