Bc of the chaos with the change in administration at the beginning of the year, FDA did not hold its usually public advisory committee meeting where experts would’ve made recommendations on what strains to include.

It also doesn't help that the current administration has cut ties with the WHO (that provides annual flu strain data) and has cancelled the campaign to promote flu shots.
Spoiler alert. They never actually quantify the effectiveness of the shot. They put all their time and energy into marketing instead.
Go ahead and try to figure out how many people who took the shot died of flu in any given year.

Anonymous wrote:12 yo just had it and it was probably the sickest I've seen him since he was v young, and he had had the shot. I dont know what it would have been like without it. His ped does not do tamiflu but in retrospect i would have pushed for it. One night was esp troublesome.

yes the flu sucks, but it sucks every time (when people actually have it vs some random other illness they call the "flu"). Agree with other posters how this year isn't the best match and it probably wouldn't have made much of a difference
it sucks a lot less when you've had the shot.
