They shouldn't be playing in a tournament with actual teams that are formed and limited by geographic region because sending a "super team" everywhere is not youth soccer. That is the way college soccer and beyond is structured, not youth soccer.

That’s crazy, how can you even get that far in a sport like soccer being a ‘selfish player.’

But returning to the topic at hand, how is the VB regional tournament any different from Copa Talento in that regard? If anything it would be worse—their website lists recruiters by name and photo, not even club or university, as if they’re celebrities?

You better get an IG account so you can learn today! At that level, kids are flying across the country to attend both training and enter tournaments in regional saturated markets. Some kids homeschool so they have the flexibility to do stuff like this which is at a high level, and comes with a high price tag.


It's absolutely insane, I agree. We have one of these kids on my daughter's ECNL team (not DMV) and let's just say everyone else is not a fan. I've never seen a more selfish player in my life.

-Serious reply. As far as I can tell, IG can help a player with guest playing and find out information about high level training and more elite programs like 'ballers elite' and a few others. But going to college from a social media account alone? Not likely. Coaches still want to see kids play in person at quality regional events against good competition (MLS Next/ MLS Next II, ECNL/ ECNL-RL, GA/ GA Aspire ect). But if you have a good profile, it might be helpful to catch the eye of the coaching staff, which has to backed by the team coach and actual outreach by the player.

But too many in your face posts and brags on IG can backfire, usually the immediate team does not like it. I think some etiquette should be considered in the posts.
