My MIL was a sweet person and loved me a lot. She raised a phenomenal son.

My FIL is brilliant, loving, and kind. His family is everything to him. My MIL has her faults—she’s a control freak and mostly likes to talk about herself—but she is a very decent person who has nursed multiple friends through serious or terminal illnesses. I also love DH’s siblings and their families. I feel lucky that they all live in the area and we get to see them often.

My FIL is great. He treats us as you would an adult friend. Respects our separate lives, respects our parenting and boundaries, treats us equally as a couple, always asks before giving big gifts to the kids, very generous, never uses guilt to get time together, never has crazy expectations. We love spending time with him and try to do a lot for him.

Mine are extremely kind and would do anything for me.

They’re great with my DCs. I keep them at arms length, but I make purposeful efforts not to interfere with their relationships with my children.

My husband’s parents have passed, and I never got to meet his mother. All accounts are that she was so smart, loving, and kind, as his father was. My sisters in law are generous and intelligent. I have nothing negative to say.

They adopted their murdered daughter's children and helped to raise them for 7 years.

They are doing the best they can to hide any dysfunction.

They are loving and kind. They truly cherish my kids (their grandchildren).

They have gone above and beyond in helping us with childcare in instances when we needed help when one of us was traveling for work or there were random multi day breaks when the kids were off school.

And, they have been truly welcoming and caring to me in terms of including me in their extended family activities.

Is that good or nice? I don't want or like their gifts, and they are passive aggressive about it, but they never forget to give someone a gift for anything.
