I get it but since your oldest is 2 or 3 lives with the baby and goes to school they're going to get sick and likely before the first year.

So I totally understand where you're coming from but don't get too upset when the inevitable happens

When my first was born (a little prematurely) before the holidays, the pediatrician said not to take her anywhere (grocery store, church etc) for the first 8 weeks and to pick 1-2 friends who I trusted to not visit if sick, to wash their hands, have their vaccinations etc. He might as well have written a prescription for post-partum depression!

I think the balance you described op, allows you to protect the baby (and yourself when your immune system is still bouncing back and you’re sleep deprived) while still having visitors.

How unnecessarily mean! Given the volume of posters agreeing with OP, not to mention the actual medial guidance supporting her choices, she is clearly not a freak. Do better

I had an under 2 month old at Thanksgiving and we did not allow anyone to hold her besides my parents, who were up to date on their shots. Everyone understood and can patiently wait until it’s safe to hold the baby. Because they are adults.

We were more cautious and I don't regret it- people probably think I'm nuts but not worth a sick, or worse, baby to me

You sound like a hard person to get along with and they’re reacting to that, not that their kids need to wash their hands. People who performatively announce demands well in advance of anything taking place, no matter how benign they are, are just obnoxious.

I am the most casual person, and nobody would say I was overprotective, but this is all fine. I had a November baby who was hospitalized with RSV for a week, who nearly died according to our doctor after DD was in the clear. This admin is trying to take away the RSV shots after the change in HepB vax and many people aren't vaxxing at all.
