I’m sorry for your loss, but I have to say — as someone who bikes to work occasionally and is very pro-bike — I find this hard to believe. How would anyone know this is what the motorist was trying to do? Was he prosecuted? Where did this happen?

My rural town is very well known for being a popular place for "scenic biking" ... in season it's a nightmare getting stuck behind clubs all wearing their matching gear because there's very often no safe place to pass them for up to 1-2 miles on the winding main roads.

There are also no sidewalks in town. Or traffic signals. (tons of accidents all the time at the 4-way stops)

Feel like there is at least one critical biking accident per year.
