I would just make his first and middle names John and Paul and you can call him that. I would not do the hyphen as others have said and also agree Super Catholic, etc. I’m a conservative evangelical so totally used to Biblical names, but that’s a lot with the hyphen.

Don't recommend 2 names. It reads as higher than thou.

And Jean Luc nooo. Doesn't anybody remember the 90s general foods coffee commercial?

Is he a pope? If not then no.

I love it! I would however skip the hyphen.

Another combination that is I love John Luke. I wish John Thomas didn't have a slang meaning, but it does.

I love John-Luke and hadn't thought of it. Thank you for the idea!

no hyphen. give the boy a fighting chance.

I have a family member John Paul

and another John Fredrick

Once of the challenges with "Luke" is that some languages do not have the "L" and it is very challenging.

John Paul (or Juan Pablo) is super common for Latino UMC/rich sort of conservative types. It has a distinctive vibe so if you don’t want that, you might want to rethink it. For the funniest John Paul/JP, see:

No, it will peg him as Catholic. It sounds like a Pope.

Also has whiff of JonBenet to me. Unless you're French or French Canadian, a double name with John seems an odd choice.

We are Catholic.

Then you should do it but I'd leave out the hyphen and just call John, which is a great name on its own. And that he's named after the pope is perfect. The lack of hyphen is how John Paul's name was styled (birtg name Karel, I believe). And that's a nice first name/middle name combo.

I am French. There are so many double names like these in France. They're cloyingly traditionalist - and not in a good way. All my relatives of my parents' generation have double names.

But if YOU like it, then sure.
