It could be any respiratory infection, but I just wanted to pipe up and say that one or two negative Covid test does not mean you do not have Covid. If you wanna know what it is, keep doing a daily Covid test for a few more days. It’s not uncommon to test negative the first few days of Covid. Those tests are not that sensitive.

This is interesting--I'm the PP above who has been sick with fatigue, malaise, headache, generally feeling ill, but no fever or and only minor congestion. I had this same thing at first--felt sick on Saturday, then fine Sunday morning, then sick again in the afternoon, then ok on Monday, then terrible Monday night and it continued until last night (Thursday). Today I'm feeling somewhat better, but not trusting it yet.

For DS, I was convinced he had the flu but negative. Muscle pains, high fever , headaches and then so much congestion he could barely talk. He was prescribed Prednisone and azithromycin. Better after a few days of Prednisone and antibiotics.

For me, nothing flu like just massive amounts of sinus congestion and fatigue. No antibiotics but took a week of hot showers, tea, rest, OTC stuff.

DH - same as above but occasionally runs a low fever.

DD -headaches, sinus congestion, wet cough, tons of congestion, low fever , prescribed amoxicillins that aren’t doing much.


Sorry but why did 2 of you do antibiotics when nothing at this hints at a bacterial infection?

DD16 has it. Kissed the entire week of school. Tested negative for strep and flu. Ped said don’t bother testing for Covid. Lots of phlegmy cough but can’t cough it up bc throat is too sore. Fever for 3 days breaking through despite round the clock alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Oddly DH and I haven’t caught it.

No, but they're still pretty accurate, particularly when you're sick enough to be symptomatic. If they're negative then, then it is probably something else.

I have something similar with body aches, fatigue, malaise, but only the mildest of respiratory symptoms-- just a slightly runny nose. It is flu-like in that it came on very suddenly over the weekend. My stomach isn't kind of off and i feel feverish but no actual fever. My adult son says he had something similar last week. All I want to do is lie down. Bleah.

Last winter DH and I got hit hard. It felt like flu, but it wasn’t (and wasn’t COVID either). The urgent care doctor said there was a bad adenovirus strain going around.

Our symptoms were horrible headache an hour aches, fever, sore throat, then congestion and cough developed later.
