A few years ago, we really enjoyed the tour of the Herr potato chip factory. It’s near Amish country in PA, only about an hour and a half away.

Agree that Europe has many better chip flavors.

True story about Bonilla chips which I have never tried.

I was in line at a fancy supermarket with my spouse and saw these chips, which were $50 a tin back then. I was like, $50 for chips? That's crazy! The guy behind us said he bought them and his wife made him go back to the store to return them, it was too much for chips....

Looks like what makes those so good is they're fried in olive oil in Spain. Do any domestic brands use olive oil? Those imported Bonilla bags or tins are super expensive.

I literally just toured a potato chip factory. Yes we tasted, yes they are amazing.

Lesson: fresh is best.

Whatever you buy, check the date- should be as fresh as possible.

They boast a 6-month shelf life, but I would not waste calories on anything less than as fresh as humanly possible.

Oh and, the reason your at-home potato chips turn brown is because the potatoes you buy in the store have been in cold storage.

I had steak flavoured in Scotland. 0/10 don't recommend unless you're into dog food (which is what they smell like).

Other flavours are great though.
