115K total applications and 109K first-year applications.
What’s so special about Michigan? Like sure great school, but 100,000 for a good state school feels insane.
It’s very popular in affluent suburbs in major metro areas (Scarsdale, Wilmette, etc) where kids want “rah rah” culture with strong academics and reputation. Plus there a lot of legacies across the country whose kids apply. Additionally, it’s very sought for in-state students since it’s a great deal and the state of Michigan doesn’t have any big, private universities.

Really weird. This will make people hesitate to try ED next year if they're just going to be strung along.
Of course they accepted people.
The number of ED applications is massive, as you know. So just because everyone in your small sample got deferred, it doesn’t mean that no one got in. 🙄
By the way, one of DD’s camp friends in NYC got in ED. So add that to your anecdotal knowledge.

Stats? In state or OOS? apply for aid?
OOS no aid. 3.7/1490, nothing crazy for ECs but strong recommendations and well known private
