Good ECs depending on what they are looking for. It's a very strong first choice - way ahead of second choice on DC's wish list, but we are feeling pessimistic.

What’s the second choice?

Doesn’t matter. Accepted and thrilled.

I think DC will get in even though the acceptance is somewhere between 10 - 20% or so, guesstimate, for ED. Will be ok if not.

DC is from feeder school (if that even exists - meaning 1-2 kids from school go to Swarthmore every year, Swarthmorecomes to school ecery year, classes are rigorous). Legacy. 4.3 egpa, 10 APs, 1480 SAT (not submitted, went test optional). Varsity athlete but not doing college sports. Extensive ec's with leadership (debate, robotics) and extensive volunteer hours. Can anyone else share stats for ED 1 application? Good luck to all!

Also legacy applicant here -- did you receive letter from admissions acknowledging your legacy status application not guaranteeing admission?

Apparently those letters went out to other legacy families in previous years.

thanks!

Yes - legacy applicant parent here. Did you not receive it? Assume it’s a form letter. DC’s EC’s were confirmed by the College this week so we’re a little excited!

Oh nice. Double legacy here and we got no letter. Confirming EC's? Meaning?

An external organization where DC volunteers got a call from Swat confirming their work there - I know, strange!

Thanks.

Might you share where the legacy letter was sent? via portal? email? not sure why we never received one....

Swarthmore has a lot of students from NYC, but if you you need to say things like that as your "copium," feel free.

Copium? She’s graduating from Swat in May.

Maybe she can use the skills she learned from her BA to explain to you that there are a lot of NYC kids there.

Sure. She knows many of them. My point is that they aren’t as represented at Swat as they are at other schools. The institutional priorities there do not seem to be such that they have large numbers of nyc private school kids like, say, Chicago.

And your source of that conclusion is what? Do you have actual data or is it the amount of NYC related gear you see students wearing?

Good luck to your kids!! DD is an ED1 applicant also interested in robotics. Rigorous private, 1st in class, 1530 (800 verbal), 2 sport varsity athletes, etc etc just like everyone else.
I worry about the intensity there - my kid already puts so much pressure on herself- but she wanted LAC near big city and wanted neuroscience classes. Swat has lots of interesting ones.
