I know one kid deferred from Pomona. Excellent rigor and test scores, strong recs, well-regarded private. Apparently they defer only like 10%, so maybe a decent chance of getting in RD since kid has indicated first choice. Wouldn’t have ED’d anywhere else so ultimately not a bad decision to ED.

I am talking about ED and unhooked students...I don't know what about this you felt was irrelevant.


If he was choosing between SWAP and an ivy, it says he got in RD for both schools. If he ED, there was no choice to make.

Williams attracts a certain kid from our HS. Very life of the mind. (We're not known for our athletics) Very often a debate champ or some top essay awards. Real shot at HYP but went this way. Def need grades and test scores. And they'll only take two tops from our school. We have years when Harvard will take 4-5.
