OOS?

No, in state (FFX County HS). She applied to the College of Engineering and received amazing merit. 4.2 gpa, SAT 1480, Girl Scout Gold Star Award and lots of other leadership positions.

What is the amazing merit aid you keep referring to? I was under the impression that $2500-$3000 was basically all in-state student could get. But, OOS applicants could get enough merit aid to reduce the price tag = to In State Tuition.

I am skeptical about this too. Everywhere I have seen has instate reporting $3K/yr as max. My instate DD had 1530 SAT, GS Silver Award, FIRST Robotics Worlds, etc and got $3K. Loudoun private school. If the above is true, PP, come back and tell us the amount and the name of the award.

In-state? How much are you expecting?

Yes, what does "amazing merit" at GMU mean? DS got a smallish merit offer that's about the same as the others I'm seeing listed here, slightly less.

I am guessing you needed above 4.0, good essay and SAT score of high 1400’s+.
We have 4.30, 1480 and some national/international awards. We got in some a scholarship, not much but a morale booster after a big rejection from a very selected school.

My DS is a freshman at GMU. He is in Engineering as well. Please don't fret if you don't have the stats listed here. Mine got in with a 3.6, unweighted and a 1290 SAT. No merit aid, but I wasn't worried about that for GMU's price tag.

Similar for my DD, but for College of Humanities & Social Sciences. FCPS high school, 4.2-4.3 WGPA, 1450 SAT, 9 APs (5 junior year, 4 this year) - accepted to Honors College and $3K per year merit scholarship.

There was no separate essay this year but I’m not sure if they had to check that they wanted to be considered.
