I didn't even track my kids when they were teenagers. Because WTAF.

As other parents have stated, having it active is pretty normal. Good to have because accidents happen.

Checking it constantly? Not normal.

She's being a mom.
What is the issue with this?
The world is a scary and dangerous place, especially for women.

OPs reporting of how often she checks her daughter's location is subjective. She might have a legitimate reason. She and her daughter might have an agreemnt that mom checks at the end of the day to make sure she is at her apartment or wherever and that's that. But again, none of this concerns him.

Sharing location is one thing, probably a good idea for emergencies and what not, tracking is another. Unless there is a legitimate need, that is super weird for a 26 year old.

My DH and I share our location with each other and each of our kids (22, 20 and 16). Everyone is happy and no one objects.

My 28 and 19 year old share there location with there father.

My 28 year old started doing it after she was in a serious car accident back in April. We've only checked her location twice since then once when she called about 11pm saying she had a nail in her tire with low tire pressure while driving home after work to see if she was almost home yet and this past week when she said she'd be home at a certain time but still wasn't home by the time we went to bed.

Our 19 year old is still on our phone plan and isn't street smart so when she takes mass transit at night we check to see where she is and how close to home she is. We've only checked when its late and are concerned.

Both girls are aware and don't care.

No, this is not right. The kid is going to be too dependent on her parents or mom.

Absolutely nothing wrong to be able to see where your child is in case of emergency. But most importantly this is NONE of your business.

I know a family like this. The parents are in their 50s and their kids are in their 20s. They all seem to track each other and are totally happy about it. The 25 year old daughter seems to really enjoy tracking her mom and being like “hey, why didn’t you invite me out to dinner.?” It does cause issues when they are trying to suprise each other. Their whole family was going to go to an out of town trip where the 25 year old was being proposed to for a party to celebrate. The mom had to make excuses about her phone being broken, etc.

My kid went to college this fall and I offered to take him off Life360 and stop sharing location on iPhone. He laughed at me and said all his friends share locations and said it’s now totally normal. So we left it on. I sometimes check where he is before I call, and he does the same. I check his progress when he has a long drive home.

Will it have changed by the time he is 26? Maybe. But if it hasn’t it won’t be because he is weird and enmeshed, but because he just doesn’t see it as private information - and when it is private he knows how to stop sharing, not just with me but with everyone.
