People just get on here and say whatever, I swear

Do you really know multiple families who will just be home without plans over winter vacation?

Uh, yeah, it's end-of-year close for a lot of people

Most people I know work at offices that close that last week.

The finance team is probably working!

Finance and accounting ALWAYS have to work yet their work is not valued.

They all know how high strung you are and are still deciding if this party will be a good time or not. Seriously OP, they have 4 days left to respond. You're being a but ridiculous

Communication, people. This is my qualm.

They still have a couple days to RSVP. You need to relax. Honestly you sound like the type that should not host a party if you are this bent out of shape about people not RSVPing 4 days before the RSVP date.

This is a bad time of year to plan anything, week between Christmas and New Year's is too tough for most.

I have a birthday this month and know better than to plan anything with non-family.

I don't think it's totally unexpected around the holidays. We are still trying to firm up plans with extended family. I'd much rather go to a friend's party but....have to do the family obligation thing.

For us, we would probably just be arranging childcare/dog care depending on the timing. Our dog doesn't do well alone for a long time and we try to find care so we aren't on a time crunch. And since the deadline is still a couple days away, I wouldn't have felt obligated to put maybe or reach out.

On Saturday? OP’s party is the Saturday after Christmas. Most people are not free that Saturday because of vacation. If you’re not free because of work, ok… but either way you’re not available for the party right?

It's typical DCUM bubble speak. "Oh, everyone's traveling, Larla!" No, they really aren't.

But either you have plans and can’t go. Or you don’t have plans but want to see if something better comes along?
I can commit to stuff over winter break now, it’s not that far away.
