Our DC had a great experience. JK - 8. Currently in HS.

The early years for our DC were amazing and just what they needed.

Was more than well prepared for HS.

By the end of MS yes the student body size seems small, and my DC was ready to move on to the next stage.

Had no issues with HOS or admin or teachers. Our DC made close friends that will be lifelong.

Definitely tour. Definitely speak to current parents.

We ended up not applying for DC, but I can believe these comments about the administration after our admissions experience. We definitely got the impression that if you didn't fit their ideal mold as a family, you wouldn't get support. We asked a few questions about the overnight trips to their Cove campus and received some not very friendly responses from staff. We just didn't get the impression that if we ended up having any concerns about our child, the administration would offer a supportive environment to problem solve.

Wise decision. They aren’t known for administrative support if something goes wrong.

Parents of two kids at the school now with one in middle. Maybe there is favoritism but it hadn’t been our experience and we have felt very supported by the administration, both lower and middle heads when a handful of issues have arisen through the years.

There seems to be a disproportionate amount of naysayers and or people not with first hand experience on this particular thread. OP I would definitely talk to parents who are there now—this thread is not what we see everyday.

No school fits everything for everyone but we and the parents we have known for years have been very happy. By and large, very nice kids, wonderful teachers/engaging curriculum and a truly unique educational experience that we are very grateful we can give our kids.

My kid went for a couple grades and then we pulled them out to go back to public. Their public middle school was far behind what they had learned at Burgundy. They said they felt like they got a full year to slack off because they already knew the material from their previous year at Burgundy.

One of the reasons we left, however, was that the social scene was so small. There was no bullying and my kid made some of their best friends ever there, but overall felt stifled by constantly being with the same people throughout the day, in every activity/sport, at the Cove, school dances, etc. Public school was much better for mixing and moving between different groups of friends, and a wider range of sports and activities.
