But a New York Times examination of Mr. Biden’s record found that he and his closest advisers repeatedly rebuffed recommendations that could have addressed the border crisis faster, and eased what became a potent issue for Mr. Trump as he sought to return to the White House and justify the aggressive tactics roiling American cities today.
Former Biden administration officials told The Times that Mr. Biden and his circle of close confidants — including Ron Klain, who was chief of staff during the president’s first two years, Mike Donilon, Jennifer O’Malley Dillon and Anita Dunn — made two crucial errors.
First, they underestimated the scale of migration that was coming. Second, they failed to appreciate the political reaction to that migration — believing that stronger enforcement would alienate Latino and progressive voters, and also that a border surge would not be an important issue to most voters. Those calculations would later prove to be mistaken, with many voters, including Latinos, citing immigration as a reason for supporting Mr. Trump in 2024.
This is the crux of the issue. They cared more about re-election, party power, than what is right by the American people.
Two wrongs still don't make a right. All of the political momentum Biden gifted the GOP has quickly been pissed away by Trump's careless immigration crackdown.

It is remarkable how out of touch Democrats are with the country.

"Democrats" didn't do that. Joe Biden did that. Dems were smart enough to give their unpopular leader the boot in the rear end. The GOP still hasn't given their unpopular leader the boot in the rear. This puts Dems one step ahead of the GOP and in a very advantageous position going into 2026 and 2028.

What did she do? anyone?
She said climate change was the cause of migration and gave Central American nations 555 million dollars to fight climate change and the leaders incredulously told her the issue was drug and gang violence (what Trump talks about) NOT climate change

I stated that Biden needed to get a handle on the border issue as soon as he got elected.
Whoever was advising him on this didn't know how to read the room. I understand Progressives want to protect the most vulnerable, but that is not what is going keep you in power.
I sincerely hope that Dems have learned their lesson and do better in 2026 and beyond. Don't cater to progressives on immigration. That's a losing strategy. Focus on the economy and jobs, not foreigners.

Lol... and this explains why Trump, in the first year of his second term, is already as unpopular as Biden was in 2024. Think before posting such nonsense.
wow, anger. good.
but please focus the anger on who caused this tragedy
Mayorkas, Biden, Harris and the Democrats
