Should there then be reciprocity - ban all other clubs from RMSC meets as well and everyone goes and plays in their own corners?

I wonder what that would look like...

It's not RMSC's fault as their meets aren't like this. Just have your kids sit this one out. They don't need meets every month.

Complaining parents should have volunteered and helped organize things.

The host club screwed up BIG TIME. They needed more help, they should have asked for it weeks ago and planned ahead. Needing timers for finals is not even on the same planet as needing to control admission to the facility because you are over occupation limits.

I agree. I'd be fine with an NFT meet only for those who need it, and if you make Holiday, then that's all you get. It would work better, even if it meant that they had to bake more bonuses into Holiday as a result.

Whose goal is this, exactly? PVS? If so, there should be much more thought in handing out the meet sanctions. As far as this weekend goes, just make the SA meet NFT and it will cut down the registrations to a better size. But get someone else to run it. SA has demonstrated that they are willing to break all kinds of rules (the poetic goal of a champs for every child doesn't outweigh the fire code, sorry). SA shouldn't be let near this ever again.

We've been to this meet multiple years and it's always crowded. This year it seemed maybe more so. They were restricting/limiting numbers this afternoon so the overcrowding today wasn't like yesterday and I think they did a fine job given the reality of the situation. It's a thankless job but if you are over capacity for the building, someone needs to be at the door giving the unfortunate news that you can't get in until more people leave.

it may be a case of letting in too many entrants this year. Like PP, I appreciate that this exists for the kids who don't have the cuts for other Christmas/holiday meets. Hopefully they'll do a review/lessons learned and come back next year wiser and more informed - I'd hate to see this meet not come back.

Or just do an internal meet. There's nothing magical about suffering through finals. Do an intrasquad, take times, and hand out candy canes. Done.

I’m just happy my kid got to swim, I was a spectator and want to thank the volunteers at this meet . They definitely deserve a huge thanks . Yeah it was crowded , but a lot of the kids put up some of their best times . At the end of the day many clubs didn’t have another Option for a champs meet. This was an open * 12. Yeah the spectator space was few and far between but if your kiddo didn’t have a cut for Riley or Ncap or club didn’t participate in the winter classic. Options are few, far and in between. I will say I would carefully review your clubs schedule and if this meet is on there , then buyer be concerned. Our club probably should have looked outside Pvs for another meet.

Thank you. SA should not be allowed to do this anymore. The level of irresponsibility was breathtaking. I don't even know how many rules were broken.

Emails from all parents impacted should be sent to the PVS board. A board of review process can take place. Complaints can also be filed with USA swimming.
I was working the Turkey Claus meet and was hearing from parents about the concerns at the Fairland meet. It is on the meet host to ensure the meet is conducted safely and not over subscribed. The Turkey Claus meet was the largest meet in the county this year and was a fantastic experience for us and very well organized and run. I know the meet has a waiting list and has for years. They don’t take what they can’t handle. I feel for the swimmers and parents at the SA meet.

OP, you’ve described every meet at Fairland IMO. I was there timing earlier this fall when lifeguards had trouble attending to multiple swimmers with health issues. The best you can do is file reports with the PG and State Health departments

What does the age of 32 have to do with it? Could it be that a club took too many kids who already qualified for another championships meet next week?

This is not on clubs sending entries. This is on the meet host, who is supposed to refuse entries once they get to their limit.
