This year because everything probably sucks for them, I gave them each 300 (via check to the owner) and I did it in October.

Whoever your head servant is should be able to advise you on what is culturally expected, timing, and amounts.
It is very different in China than South Asia for example. When we had both Christian (Filipino) and Chinese help we tailored it to the individual, Christmas or Chinese New Year as appropriate for the main bonus.
If you are talking about somebody hired to come do a task for an agreed upon amount you just pay them the money and you are done.
