DH and I both had Garmin. He switched to Coros and said it’s much better. I still have the Venu but when it dies, maybe I’ll switch

Not that I know of, I believe my teen son was able to use it without any kind of cost for the app

Ds does cross-country and I got him a Forerunner 165 this summer that he was happy with.

The Apple Watch functionality for running isn’t as good for tracking via gps without WiFi as the forerunner. Also for strava.

Kid who runs in college has a Forerunner 245.
