CS Lewis is an excellent writer who is a proselytizer for Jesus.

Some theories suggest that the Jesus story was created by combining elements from various pre-Christian pagan mystery cults, such as Mithras and Osiris
Correct. But they don't tell you that in catechism

Well season is mostly about light and warmth to fight cold and dark, Jesus has little to do with it.

That's what we were taught about Jesus in Islam, including prophethood, holy book, immaculate conception, speaking as an infant, healing the blind and lepers, creating live birds from clay, raising the dead, being taken to heaven from the cross and expectation for him to come back to save humanity etc.

Jesus was not born in December, let alone Winter. Whether you're talking about Jesus as a human, or a deity.
An Episcopal priest said that Jesus' birthday was placed near the solstice because that was an already existing holiday
