The fraud happens because the county is missing the taxes of the student's family. You cannot just substitute the resident's taxes for the student's. The county should get both. It's not the county's problem that one doesn't have kids. It is the county's problem that the family with the kid isn't directing some of their taxes to the FCPS.

Not that I'm going to police who is or isn't committing residency fraud. I live and let live. But I just wanted to explain it.


Falls Church is the same county as McLean, right?

I mean your coworker could just take Russian and then they could go to Langley legitimately as it's the only FCPS school with that language. Lots of kids are doing that to go to Langley. However, even this comes with drawbacks--transportation to and from school is parent responsibility, so either mom or dad will have to be their driver for drop off and pick up. Has your co-worker thought about that?

Thread is fake. OP posted before about letting relatives use their Langley HS address to avoid Justice HS. Now it’s a co-worker. Guess this is how OP seeks validation that Langley is worth it.

You are willing the point because the parent/student is living in FFX county and already paying taxes there, they just want to go to a different school. The parent would still be committing fraud by faking an address to go to another school, and you would be assisting them potentially. FCPS requires a residency attestation to register for a school, which includes a lease or supporting docummentation. If you are giving them a fake lease, you would be committing fraud for sure.
