I also want to hear his reason for waiting. If anything, I'd buy the clothes now and let her wear them now. I just bought my DD a couple new sweaters to wear for holiday events between now and Christmas, which is almost a month away.

DH and I don't consult each other about low value purchases, so I didn't ask him.

If my DH wanted to micro manage every gift, I would gladly tell him to handle it all. Buy, wrap as well as returning items. All this over a few shirts? Nuts,

I personally noticed sales are better the day after Christmas through the new year. Its just a few shirts why not get them.


Same here. My husband has no clue or cares. Even his clothing just shows up for him.

My family realized a few years back that the tradition of giving things like warm socks, sweaters, and coats at Christmas doesn't make sense because we need them a month earlier. We no longer buy clothes for Christmas and instead just assess clothing needs in early November and buy anything that is needed for the winter season. And the bonus is that then you have the newer items to wear in time for holiday meals and photos, so you really get the most out of them.

And OP, “unfairness” between siblings could still be an issue.

I buy every and I buy my kids what I want them to have. My husband could care less about what's purchased.

I personally noticed sales are better the day after Christmas through the new year. Its just a few shirts why not get them.
