BC & UVA are preppy, social, and more mainstream moderate to conservative than many colleges & universities.

“even” UVA. Not sure what op is implying

BC is 70% Catholic, how is there much overlap with UVa? Maybe closer to Villanova.

ND, Georgetown, and UVa are much better academic schools than Boston College. BC was a commuter school until 30 years ago like BU and Northeastern. No comparison.

I am surprised Wake Forest isn't on this list. We know of a lot of overlap between those two schools and many do the ED1/ED2 strategy. But they seem to attract very similar students.

GU and BC are very very hard admits from VA public HS. We had many UVA acceptances, a few BC and zero GU.

Oh and UVA is 17k undergrads while BC, GU and the Ivy were 6-7k. My kid didn’t like Greek and wanted midsize which is why UVA was at back of list.

Cross enroll stats is only useful as a general idea of comparable schools, and when actual tuition paid is included in the comparison.

This probably is a pretty common scenario and happens pretty often. Apply to UVA ED, if/when rejected then apply to BC for ED2 since they admit so many ED. However if you are in state at Virginia, the price tag for BC is so much higher. Since they both are in the ACC you get P4 football and basketball although Virginia is doing much better than BC and has a lot more spirit.

I went to BC and live in Virginia.

Both schools have a nice balance between academics and fun. While UVA is obviously better at sports these days, they both have great school spirit and alumni who are proud and supportive.

BC is bigger than the other Catholic schools in the northeast, but not a giant state u. That’s similar to UVA, though UVA is larger.

This has been the case for decades. No news here.
