I’d check out Santa Fe or Taos, NM for a little bit. I’ve actually never been, but the southwest (and small towns/cities) are things that I haven’t really experienced (besides a vacation to the Grand Canyon and Sedona). I’d probably end up doing a lot of driving in my free time to visit Chaco national historic parks and the national parks in southwest Colorado. Depending on your work schedule the time zone change could be a challenge.

Interesting! These are all good choices! I’m also slightly obsessed with Mexico City and Columbia right now (I have two digital nomad friends who spend time in these places) but I don’t think my work would allow it for more than a few days.

Fellow NYer here, and I think I would rent a historic home in another city. I'm a history dork, I love old houses, and it would be fun to spend my free time wandering around and learning about another place's past and role in the US's founding.

Good suggestions. We’re planning to retire a 90-minute train ride south of OP, in one of the Monmouth County shore towns, but are eying Puerto Rico and maybe New Orleans, Charleston or Savannah for January-February.
New Orleans is cold & damp during January & February.

Good suggestions. We’re planning to retire a 90-minute train ride south of OP, in one of the Monmouth County shore towns, but are eying Puerto Rico and maybe New Orleans, Charleston or Savannah for January-February.

My co has an office on the west coast so I could work PT hours other than one standing all hands call a week that I’d need to be on at 6:30.

I'd probably do the Seattle area for a while because my sister and several close friends live there, and it is beautiful.
