That is nice but Orthodox churches take no position on birth control. Once in awhile some old priest would give a sermon encouraging people to have kids but if you've been to a lot of orthodox churches no one really cares much about the sermon.

Yep—many religions, regardless of denomination, call for women to follow their husbands. If that’s the main draw, they have a lot of choices.

I was raised in the Antiochian orthodox church. I currently attend a church in the Orthodox Church of America but my priest is 'retiring' and I do not like the one taking his place. I really looked hard for an orthodox church that was more liberal. The priest that took over the church in which I grew up is very traditional, has over 9 children and believes in homeschool. That church has taken a hard turn to 'orthobros' and it's really turned off a good portion of the non-converts.

I was in Russia for a bit in the early 90s where my brother met his future wife, who was still a teenager. They married a few years later and while I don't remember any religion dominating her family at the time, they apparently banked hard into Russian Orthodoxy in the mid 90s.

The kind where they took a 2 hour metro journey each way as a family to get their Easter food blessed before it could be prepared. And something about stuff to do with my sister-in-law and their daughters and stuff they could or could not do while menstruating.

I kind of forget, my late elderly mom just kind of passed on the stories. She might have been exaggerating but I'll never know. I have no contact with my brother and his family today.
