Yes because we are worried the Italian pasta companies won't ship it here. There were some news stories about that. So we have some in a Rubbermaid bin in the cellar.

TJ pasta is imported.

TJ's dry pasta used to be from Italy. Now some (most? all?) of it is sourced from Egypt, starting a few months ago. At least this is the case at my local TJ's (Detroit area). Haven't tried any of the new stuff yet, but I've seen reviews on the internet saying it's not as good.

Costco has bulk pasta

I like DeCecco which is now $3-$4 a box when not on sale. If it doubled it would be $6-8 which feels excessive so I will stock up but I’m not going to be hoarding it. I have been wanting to learn to make my own pasta so maybe this will motivate me if the tarrifs are as bad as I’m hearing. But I think DJT will cave on them.

So avoid Trader Joe's while hoarder parents shop in the next weeks

I’m a fairly thrifty person but I’m not squirreling away $2 pasta in fear of tariffs.

Yes, it's a big deal when you take the sum total of everything that will increase, but I'm not concerned about stocking up on any one item.

Yes, even the good Italian pasta is a couple of bucks, and presumably the wholesale price (which is what tariffs are based on) is less than that. So tariffs might add a $1 or at most $2. Unless you eat a lot of pasta and have lots of extra storage space, it's not worth stocking up.

No, we eat whole wheat pasta and I don't think that is as shelf stable as white pasta. I have also made my own pasta. And as others ahve noted, pasta is cheap so while a tariff makes it more expensive, it's still going to be very affordable.
