I think it does matter ,if they are putting forward an event as for charity, charging fees and then not donating a cent of the proceeds, that's awful. Is this charity run by Eric Trump?

This event proudly benefits the Candlelighters of DC, supporting families impacted by pediatric cancer. Each team is encouraged to bring a toy or gift donation to help brighten the holidays for these children and their families.

I think this is phrased deceptively. They say the event "proudly benefits" the charity and is all about "giving back", but they don't say the fees will be donated to the charity. The only charitable donations seem to be coming from the families bringing toys to donate.

Valor has such a sketchy reputation that no one is going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The website never said that registration fees go to charity. It's a toy drive for DC Candlelighters, a pediatric cancer charity. I don't think the organizers are being deceptive.
