You mean afternoon tea.

High tea, afternoon tea…whatever you call it, I’ll stick with coffee.

I go to London several times a year for fun or work and still love it. Our kids loved it at that age. As others have noted it can be hot, and many places aren’t air conditioned. We were there for a couple weeks in June and had a heat wave. Generally it was much cooler at night so that helped.

As someone who has family in Dublin, there is significantly more to do in London and it's much easier to get around (public transportation, Ireland just doesn't have the train system Britain has). I like Ireland but you end up having to drive more.

20-40 years ago, it was NICE and so much fun!

Now it's a dump and avoid it.

Don't assume it will be cool weather. It could be cold and rainy, it could be very hot. And if it's hot, a lot of places dont have CAC. And even the places that claim to have CAC, it's not that cold.

I lived in London for two years and was there during a historic heat wave. It was horrible.

Decided that I must have it at least twice on my next trip

Its perfect for that age- so much to do and they can still follow everything around them. We have travelled and lived abroad extensively and London is still our fav trip.

Anonymous wrote:We are thinking about where to travel with our 9 year old next August for 1 week, somewhere not too hot to escape the heat in DC. We usually like city trips better and enjoyed past trips to Tokyo, Paris, and New York. We like exploring neighborhoods, shopping, having good food, and visiting museums. Has visiting London been as enjoyable as other big cities? Any other suggestions for cities to visit? Thanks so much in advance.

Would not recommend London in August. We were there in the beginning of July last year and it was already too hot.

In August I’d try one of the Nordic countries.

London is the starter European trip for many Americans for a reason - you can’t go wrong.
