My kids didn’t play til HS all were either varsity or jv for multiple sports at MVPS W HS yes this is true. The. Two went on to play Division 1 college

True! And OP will have missed out on the American experience. This is part of the reason why Americans care about more than academic success. There is a huge social development piece that goes along with sports - competing with the people you are competing against- just like the workplace.


Exactly. Sports are a big part of the American school culture, and it sucks so many are left out of it

Are you still in HS? If so, try cross country, track, indoor track, sometimes swim (if non-cut), wrestling. A lot of schools have at least one non-cut sport per season; you could be doing something year-round. If out of HS, try clubs -- pickleball, hiking, running, training for a race, cricket, golf.

So you listed two sports that cause brain damage, one sport that most high schools don’t have, and another that is actually one of the hardest to join besides baseball and basketball

Wrestling and football take about everyone. At some schools sports like water polo and soccer do as well. Pick one of those and work hard. You’ll have fun. Good luck on your journey. Athletics is worth it!

True for many Asians. Hopefully they let you grow socially. Many only care about academics and we are far behind in adulthood

You can play rec sports in college and take classes like beginner tennis and beginner skiing - where you can meet other people likewise learning to play. There is still a lot of time to learn!
