Turn on the radio sometime.

Eddie Van Halen: Dead
Dolores O'Riordan: Dead
Tina Turner: Pushing up daisies
Sinead O'Connor: Dead
Whitney Houston: Dead

And yet, all their music is heavy rotation still. It's bizarre.

You forgot Al Jolson.

I've never watched the show before this season, but I love dance and am thoroughly enjoying this as a much-needed and welcome escape. It is my not-guilty-at-all pleasure. The highlight so far for me was the Chicago team dance, which is worthy of inclusion in the repertoire of many major dance companies. Come on, Joffrey Ballet, this is so up your alley! I've been impressed by the judges; their critiques are detailed, spot on, encouraging, and mostly fair, though I think the remarks about Jordan Chiles this week were harsh.

Bergeron was a nice addition to the crew; in particular, his mentioning to Rumer Willis his memory of having met her father when she was a contestant was a lovely grace note. After the show, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole and read that he came to a parting of the ways with the producers when he protested their inclusion of Sean Spicer as a contestant. People magazine has a story quoting him as saying he would have been against inserting a political tone even if the Dem-GOP roles had been reversed. Good for him.

PP you're responding to. Wow - did not know that about Tom. Good for him!!! What a shame for us. I like Alfonso, but he was incomparable.

As someone who has watched since season 1, episode 1, it's nice to see someone still discovering the show and enjoying it so much! I've felt the show has grown tired, but this season the celebs are pretty good... Whitney's Cell Block Tango is one of the best dances I've ever seen on the show!

I don't think you can stream the really old seasons, but there's lots on YouTube out there if you ever cared to look into them. So many amazing dances. My favorite couples of all time were Mario Lopez/Karina Smirnoff, Julianne Hough/Apolo Anton Ohno (who is still great, per the other night!), and Nicole Scherzinger/Derek Hough. There's a certain charm to the older seasons, where they had stricter pros, more emphasis on ballroom, no contemporary and jazz except in your freestyle, and no distractions like smoke or troop members incorporated into the celeb's dance.

You would have loved Len Goodman as a judge!

Apolo was great and he said he had not danced in years. I was impressed with him and all the returning celebrities.

Who are you pulling for to go to the semifinals?

Whitney is hands-down, the best dancer, but I am not rooting for her. She’s just so offputting.

I have a soft spot for Robert Irwin!

Agree....and me too!

He was let go around the same time Sharna Burgess was let go and she was such an amazing dancer and pro. It was pretty shocking. She threw some shade at DWTS especially about Tom’s firing so it didn’t sound like It was on good terms.
