My kid wears shorts and a sports top every day. When it's below 60 degrees, he wears a hoodie. That's it. He has pants, won't wear them. He has a coat, won't wear it. When he was in 1st grade, I'd force it. He's in 3rd now and I just let him decide. I'm not battling over pants! When he's cold he'll wear them. Maybe.

My kid wears athletic pants or soft pants (I guess they're sweatpants but they tend to be open at the bottom whereas I picture sweatpants as having an elastic band at the ankle) and a long sleeved t-shirt to school each day, with sneakers. We make him wear a sweatshirt or hoodie in the morning under his coat because it's so cold, but I think that comes off the moment he gets to school.

Your kid would be wildly overdressed at my kid's school.

If they're in a stuffy private school with a dress code, sure it's mainstream.

Everywhere else? He mostly prefers to wear sweatpants and shorts with t-shirts and hoodies.

Basketball shorts if it’s warm. In the colder weather, long athletic pants. Usually a drifit sport shirt or cotton athletic print top. Shoes are usually Nike because they fit his foot - either traditional sneaker shape or the mid tops. I don’t like buying the modern flat bottom sneakers because they seem bad for feet. Lots of Nike socks around neighborhood but we just buy Hanes white socks.

Sweats and a polo.
Or shorts and a polo.
Possibly a jersey.
Hoodie if it's cold.
He likes long socks.

9 DS wears dri-fit exercise shirts and sweatpants. He will wear jeans or a nice button shirt when it is picture day

Under 50 degrees, jeans and t-shirt. Over 50 degrees, shorts and t-shirt.

Sneakers, sweatshirt, jackets as appropriate.

Yes, this exactly. In the warmer weather and sometimes even in the cooler weather athletic shorts and some sores of sport jersey.

In the winter, sweatpants, sports jersey with a hoodie.

I cannot get him to wear anything else. This is one battle not worth fighting.

He’ll be dressed like a dad.

Conversely, some of y'all apparently dress your kids like it's 3am at Walmart in Mississippi.

The boys are into fashion these days - and by fashion i mean those ice cream shorts, lol, where did that even come from?? Baseball lifestyle, baseball 101, etc.
