Presumably, film schools are well aware of these changes and will be adapting their curriculum to train students appropriately to new, evolving industry standards and emerging technology.

We had an employee earning $14 per hour with us. He graduated from Full Sail and is making over $200,000 now. He had 3 offers upon graduation.

USC film school admit rate approx 1%. PP was correct. Probably not worth kid’s time without amazing grades, test scores and portfolio.

Also, RISD has a good film program, but the best part of it is the animation department. I'm not sure if it's good for editing, specifically.

Colleges in LA - USC, UCLA, etc., for access to internships.

More importantly, though, DC should be open minded. Film editing is one part of film making, and they need to understand the much larger world of film before prematurely committing themselves to film editing. Not to mention the effect of AI on film editing as we move into the future. It will be imperative for DC to take college as an opportunity not just to hone technical skills (some of which will be obsolete by the time they graduate) but to learn as much about the field as possible, make connections, and have the broad base of knowledge and critical thinking skills to enable them to pivot as necessary as the industry evolves.

No to SCAD.

These wouldn’t beat some of the NYC and LA-based schools, but UNC School for the Arts and Savannah College of Art and Design have strong programs (assuming your student is open to those geographic locations).

I’d also take a look at Rutgers and Hofstra.

I would add Boston University(BU) on the list as well.
