Even just normalizing reading a book for 20-30 minutes before going to sleep makes a huge difference.

We’ve all seen how phones and social media are frying our brains - mine included. But reading books is excellent for the brain and life generally. And for students it really shows up in essays and standardized tests, so there’s a pretty immediate reward. And young readers tend to be more thoughtful and focused and curious and that matters in all sorts of ways. Their emotional intelligence is way beyond those getting fried on TikTok etc.
