Micro Schools have challenges.

If you’re that hard up, move farther out in Virginia or Maryland. McDonogh School is much cheaper than DC schools with many more bells and whistles. (Equestrian anyone? Squash?)

Many DC area schools offer squash and a couple have equestrian programs if either of those are particularly important but you don’t want to move.

Middle school is harder to get in than the earlier grades. If you can come in 4th or 5th, do it. That being said, classes get a little bigger in middle school, so there are a few more spots available. It’s definitely worth applying!
are

Are you a parishioner are you catholic? Those are the kids who get the first slots for 6th. You will be competing against parishioners who were at DCPS and then come to OLV for middle school. So try to move earlier 4/5 grade.

Christian Family Montessori School near Petworth is more secular (obviously not fully secular but focus is much more on Montessori and education than on religion -- it's mostly crunchy parents who are also churchgoers but that's about it). It goes through 8th.

Some questions: what grade? Are you Catholic?

Sacred heart and st Anthony only have one class per grade so admission depends on whether there is space, which is grade dependent. Since sacred heart is bilingual, there’s a certain grade (2nd? Check their website) where you need to already have come from a bilingual school or speak Spanish for admission. The application process for both of those schools was not difficult. It’s open house season so check their websites or instagram for dates.
