I'm sorry for your loss. But I agree -- I think DCUM (if we use its power for good) could provide you very good guidance for free.

This is OP. I truly am looking for [b]recs. If I’m gonna spend a lot of money I want to be sure I’m doing research. If you know any others that have a good reputation, I’m open to it.

Thank you!

Honestly, I don’t know. I found her firm and others through a Google search. Actually, Collrgewise was recommended to me so I’m leaning toward using them because I know someone with personal experience. I don’t think my daughter would actually work with Abigail but someone at her company . Abigail’s rates are double the other counselors so …nope. Are there local counselors rather than big companies?

College Counselor again. I suggest you not work with a consultant associated with a large firm. The firm is taking a cut. Find a local consultant associated with IECA (use your zip code on this search feature: https://www.iecaonline.com/independent-educational-consultant-search/ ). In your initial inquiry to consultants, indicate you are hoping to work with a consultant offering hourly services. You can keep your costs down, although you and your daughter will need to be more involved in managing the process.

Is your Google broken? It says she is in PA.

Are you okay?

You don't need someone local. Online is fine too.

I'd start a new post with your daughter's stats, background, major interests, ECs, and then her wish list (type of school, location, size, vibe) and ask for folks to crowdsource a list.

I've gotten good info here that way.

GL.

There are lots of local college counselors who meet with students in person, if that sort of support and personal connection is preferred by your daughter. Many have packages as well as hourly options.
