I think it could be nice, but agree with others that it will work best if you have a lot of light or big windows or big arches and bookshelves like in the picture above. My house has none of those things and if I painted my living room room brown, it would look like inside of a cave.

This is my favorite chocolate brown walls picture. If you do it, you may want to rethink the furniture.
