Subject: BC engineering?
Agreed with everyone above. BC is a great school if you want to go to law school or into business.
But if you are looking in Boston and want engineering, why there instead of Northeastern? Or Tufts? Or BU?
Obviously some are going into BC's program. Just make sure you know what you are getting into.

I think a lot of schools have been unprepared for the massive increase in students interested in engineering over the past twenty years. It's not just BC. Harvard and Yale are also woefully behind - but at least they have they resources to get it together.
I think for students that are serious about engineering in 2025, there are many better options than BC. Usually the local State U will be a much better option.

if you have a kid who is interested in a peace corps to international development kind of job path, this is a good degree. They may end up in field work or policy work instead of Google or SpaceX, but that may be more aligned to the kids interests.
This is right. Although, I don't understand the specifics. DS has applied to another school which is anticipating being accredited. Has something to do with needing to graduate a class before it happens.

My kid is interested in BC because it’s clearly not engineering focused, unlike a lot of universities today.

No. My kid has no interest in engineering whatsoever. BC is interesting because it devotes the overwhelming resources and attention to other subjects.
I was agreeing with the point above mine with an example.

My kid looked at this program. We felt like it was lots of smoke and mirrors without any substance. An attempt by BC to take advantage of increased interest in STEM. In the end BC just wasn't a right fit for my kid.
