On the one hand, AI is going to replace all the workers.

On the other hand, Palantir claims they will hire high school grads.


Meanwhile, we know the Palantir Administration (aka Trump) wants fewer people to graduate and wants an uneducated populace.

Meanwhile, the MAGA elite all send their own children to college--Barron, Tiffany, Don Jr, Eric, Ivanka, Kai Trump, Sean Hannity's children for a start.

My DS got funded by YC. He took a couple of semesters off. The school is very flexible about finishing the degree because of its startup culture. Because I am so adamant about him finishing the degree he took classes during the summer and will have to go back for one more semester to finish incase things don't work out. However, the YC experience has been very valuable and there are many he knows who seem to be doing fine without completing their degree.

For most kids, I strongly believe that the supportive quasi independent structure of college is extremely valuable in the maturation process. My DD has developed so many good habits and more importantly, an awareness of what it means to take care of yourself. Academics aside, which she is also much better at in college, those four years are the ones her brain needs to launch into adulthood. I’m not saying that’s everyone’s need but I’m guessing it’s good for many.

No doubt, and my parents are among them, but a degree is nonetheless required for most jobs and all grad schools.

They had genuine work experience, and they were not too old to go back to school. Not a bad situation, I’m sure they recovered.

DS said a guy in his UVA dorm dropped out to work for an SV startup. Very skilled at CS. But still a risky move. On the other hand, when it fails he will have learned a lot that can’t be taught at UVA.

Yeah, no sane kid should ever have Palantir on their resume.

Apparently the big tech firm's have no issues hiring software engineers from Palantir. Applicants go through 6-7 stage interview process. If you are offered employment, you must be pretty good.
