- democratic rhetoric in recent years remind them of rhetoric from the cultural revolution.
- most came here legally and with great hardship and took great pains assimilating. They perceive illegals as greatly unfair.
- Chinese culture is ultimately conservative, so a better value fit with Republicans.
- Chinese culture greatly values the family and family helping each other. This makes first gen immigrants hate taxes because they have the mentality of saving to use for their family. They do not rely on social safety net. Chinese culture has a very strong family vs stranger mentality and there is not as much emphasis on helping those outside your immediate circle. So in this aspect, also a better fit with Republican values.

Chinese Americans who immigrated here and who actually lived under communism are turning into hardcore Trump supporters. They are horrified at the messaging in NY wrt all the free stuff being promised, laxity on crime, and increasing taxes to make a bigger state. I didn't realize how badly Kamala had tanked with Chinese Americans. What a disaster.

No Asian immigrants didn't vote to trash the country's economy and intellectual standing in the world. Things their kids are good at. Not manufacturing or trades.
They, number 1, voted to have opportunities for their kids in the future. You may have conned the with the "black kids took your child's spot at Harvard."
But guaranteed, when their kids get out, they are leaving the country or even back to China for better opportunities. They aren't going to find them in the U.S. for the foreseeable future.

In terms of elections if you're a Democrat, it's not a disaster. There are not that many Chinese Americans and many are in solidly blue states.
The point is that Kamala tanked by 20 frigging percentage points with Chinese Americans compared to the prior presidential election. Sure, Chinese Americans are a small cohort, but it is a canary in the coal mine for how things are going for the Dems. Losing 20 percentage points is massive. Latinos are a massive group and are shifting right too Why did Trump get so many Latino votes?
I donât doubt that Latinos are shifting right since many of them come from countries with authoritarian leaders, which often makes them prefer âstrong leaders,â and are religiously conservative. But that may change the more this administration goes after Latinosâand not just the undocumented onesâin such an unrelenting and cruel way. Theyâre literally being singled out for abuse by this administration, more so than any other group in this country. And the polls are already starting to shift.
âTrump's approval rating among Hispanics has declined sharply to **27%** in the latest October 2025 AP-NORC poll, down from 41% in March 2025 and 48% in the 2024 election.â
If Trump and Stephen Miller keep this up, they may cause the GOP to lose Hispanic voters for a long time to come.

Why are people so frickin stupid?
They have PTSD and lots of trauma from their ordeal in the Old Country. Former USSR immigrants are similarly drawn to authoritarian figures. Itâs comforting when they perceive themselves to be on the âcorrect sideâ of the authoritarian. Same thing happened in Israel with all their former USSR Ă©migrĂ©es

Exactly. I'm surprised there is any room left for a "shift."
A lot of Asians are centered in cities, that vote more Democrat.
