Yeah, the only reason I always fly biz is because I need lie-flat seats to sleep on an overnight flight -- I can't sleep sitting up and I have health problems that are exacerbated by lack of sleep. And Iceland Air does not have lie-flat seats in their biz class.

Thank you so much!

None of us knew this!

Wait a few months and I think those same tickets will be $5k+.

I appreciate the heads up. We are looking into Europe this summer, and it's a good reference point.

Get out to the cities, especially in Norway. Oslo is good for like 48 hours, tops.

I'm traveling to Barcelona next summer for a work conference and business class tickets on the direct flight from Dulles came to $5,300! We're at Fortune 1000 company and that's with whatever discount our travel department gets.

Just checked and our same itinerary in economy is currently $1,900 so $3,100 for business isn't too bad.

Last year I looked in fall 2024 for June 2025 and priced it all dc to Madrid and then didn’t book it because of scheduling issues. I ended up booking it in May 2025 and it was only about 10% more. It was insanely expensive both times. I couldn’t justify business class but economy plus was expensive enough. We flew coach back.

Interesting you think air traffic control and TSA will be working.

If US airspace is closed, we'll have a lot bigger problems than our vacation.

Yeah we avoided them. Ended up on Finnair and BA instead.

Finnair sucks. At least you're not the person flying Royal Air Maroc from a few days ago.

Have you been to Helsinki before? It's pretty boring. Hope you're heading out into the countryside. I'd recommend the overnight ferry to Stockholm, it's 1000x better.

Not at all true in business class. They have a new seat which is excellent.

This is what we're flying on. I took it last year on a business trip and it was very comfortable.

Right- but not from DC, right? There is no Finnair service to Dulles or BWI, and United doesn't fly from Dulles to Helsinki.

Correct, there are no direct flights to Helsinki (or Oslo) so our only option was a connecting flight.

See, we just phone and have them bring the plane out when we’re ready to go. I can’t imagine having to plan my flights nearly a year in advance… and having to be stuffed in business class with all those other people.
