He didn’t see any players we know from recent middle school FCYBL teams, even the top talented players from division one teams.

Last year, we heard a rumor (that turned out to be true) that the basketball coach recruited players because several transferred into the school somehow.

Our DS is in middle school and looks forward to playing in high school. But despite years of playing AAU at a higher level and FCYBL, DH has doubts about him making the team due to his size (projected to be 6’ but slow start) and coach favoritism (and recruiting?)

Oh please, stop trolling. In three posts you will "reluctantly" post your kid's alleged school (which is actually a rival of your child's school, or a school you want to "out" for cheating.)

Tallest kid on Varsity being 5'11 is normal. Those heights are usually inflated by an inch or two.

NO FCPS HS has their roster published with heights listed as of this weekend. Post what your DH found on "the web" today to prove you aren't a troll.

Finally, any recent middle school players are on freshman or JV, or at private schools, not public Varsity.

Already had one player quit on my kid's varsity team. Same happened last year. Why would you go to so much trouble to try out then quit? Not a starter, so maybe that's the issue.

Girls is usually less determined, but if the team has had Green Day’s/open gyms, many kids will have a good idea where they stack up.

For an FCPS public? This is brazen. The coaches are supposed to pretend like tryouts are actually tryouts.

Girls teams are not competitive at all and even JV is no-cut at most of the large publics.

I don't think this is true at all.

It's absolutely not true for most of the High Schools in FCPS.

Big FCPS: they usually have 14-15 on Varsity and 13-14 on JV and freshmen.

Our FCPS carries a 15ppl roster on Varsity but JV has less.

This is really not accurate for the largest FCPS HS. What school has such low rosters??

15 kids on Varsity and 13-14 on JV/freshman is the norm at ours, and that's after cutting a lot of kids.

Our school cut some after three days and called the others back for a fourth day of tryouts tomorrow.

How big of a roster can we expect at each level?

Our big FCPS HS cut kids from the Varsity tryouts after the first day. Some of the kids at the freshman tryout cut themselves after all the running the first day.
