My kid joined the cybersecurity club at school. He wasn't into coding but he liked working on a team to solve problems. His team won a state award one year too.

For my boys: fishing, cooking, chess, poker, skateboarding, guitar
Other kids I know: D&D, robotics, babysitting, dog walking, theater, 3D printing, cooperative board games, painting, scouts, martial arts

Also - all the sports you mention are team ball sports. There are lots of sports that are more individual, he might not like the competitive pressure of team sports. Cross country, track, rowing, swim, golf.

I do not have a boy but I do have high schoolers, and if he’s somewhat academic: debate/constitution team/mock trial
If he’s a little fruity: theater, choir
Nerdy: band/robotics
Extroverted and popular just not sporty: student government/leadership

Mountain biking. It’s a whole world. Not just a sport. My kid hated team field sports.

My 8th grader does rock climbing. He is on a team but some of his school friends do it on their own. It's a sport but not a team sport in same sense as soccer (which he didn't enjoy).
